PDFs are made for printing, not for tired eyes. A 200 page course reader, a research paper in tiny type or a report you must finish by Monday all compete for the same screen time. Listening lets you get through them on a walk, a commute or a workout. The trouble is that most readers stumble over PDFs: they read the running header on every page, announce page numbers in the middle of a sentence and split words that were hyphenated at a line break. EzTranscriber cleans that up first, so what you hear sounds like a book.
Everything between a PDF file and a clean listening experience.
The PDF is opened and its text is extracted on your device, so the file itself is never uploaded.
Choose a page range to skip the cover, the contents and the references, and hear only the part you need.
Repeated headers, footers and page numbers are removed, and words split across lines are joined back together.
Hear the PDF read aloud with the voices built into your browser, each sentence highlighted, free and with no sign up.
Choose a lifelike AI voice for a natural read with real pauses and intonation.
Save the AI reading as an MP3 and listen in any player, offline and at your own pace.
From a PDF on your laptop or phone to something you can listen to, in about a minute.
Choose a PDF from your device. The text is pulled out in your browser and shown page by page.
Set the page range and keep cleanup on to drop headers, page numbers and broken words. Check the text before you listen.
Press play to hear it with a free browser voice, or sign in, choose an AI voice and download your PDF MP3 file.
Built for textbooks, papers and reports, not just tidy single column pages.
When you open a file, the text layer of each page is read in your browser and laid out as clean paragraphs you can check, and even edit, before listening. The file is never uploaded for this step. Text PDFs up to 100 MB open, and the first 500 pages are read. It works for any PDF with selectable text, which covers most textbooks, ebooks, reports and papers. Scanned pages that are only pictures of text have no text layer, so they cannot be read aloud; run them through an OCR app first.
Open a PDFWhat makes a converted PDF pleasant to listen to is what it leaves out. Cleanup removes the running header and footer that repeat on every page, drops lone page numbers, and joins words that were split with a hyphen at the end of a line, so "infor- mation" is read as "information". Each fix has its own switch, so you can keep page numbers in a legal document, and the text view always shows exactly what will be read.
Clean Up My PDFMost PDFs start with a cover, a copyright page and a table of contents that nobody wants read aloud. Set a page range and listen to the chapter you need, then come back for the next one. You also see the word count and an estimated listening time. Long books are easiest one range at a time, which keeps each audio file a sensible length for a commute or a study session.
Pick PagesBrowser voices are great for listening right away, but they cannot be saved. For an audiobook you can keep, sign in and choose an AI voice: the cleaned text is split at sentence ends, voiced in order and joined into one MP3 of up to 50,000 characters, ready for your phone, your car or a podcast app. It is the simplest way to convert PDF to audiobook format without installing anything, and new accounts get free credits to try it.

Real PDFs are full of things you would never say out loud: the running header, the page number and words split at the end of a line. With cleanup on, the listener hears each sentence the way the author wrote it. It is the step most readers skip, and it is why a cleaned PDF sounds like an audiobook instead of a robot reading a printout.
If it has selectable text, it can become something you listen to.

Listen to papers before deciding which ones deserve a full read, and skip the references with a page range.

Both names describe the same thing: the text of your PDF read aloud by a voice. You choose between free browser voices and AI voices, and AI results are saved as PDF audio in MP3 format.
Text PDFs up to 100 MB open in your browser, and the first 500 pages are read. One AI audiobook MP3 holds up to 50,000 characters, so for a long book you make one file per page range. AI voices are charged per 1,000 characters, so a shorter range also costs less.
It reads the text in the order the PDF stores it. Images are skipped, and tables are read cell by cell, which can sound choppy, so it often helps to leave data heavy pages out of the range.
The PDF file stays on your device because its text is extracted in your browser. If you choose an AI voice, only the text is sent to the voice provider to create your audio, and it is never published.
