Free, no sign-in. The audio stays in your browser until you download it.

Sometimes you just need to record a few minutes of sound: a voice over for a slide deck, a quick song idea, a message for a colleague or a sample for a casting call. Installing an app for that feels like overkill, the laptop sound recorder hides its files in a folder you never find, and the phone recording ends up in the wrong format for the person who needs it. A sound recorder online that works in any browser removes all of that. Open the page, pick your mic, record, trim and download, then turn the take into text if you need the words.
A simple audio voice recorder that still gives you the controls a good take needs.
Pick the built-in mic, a USB microphone, a headset or an audio interface from the list, and see the input level move before you start.
Like a live audio recorder in a studio, it draws your voice on screen as you speak and keeps a clock running, so you know it is hearing you.
Stop for a breath, a cough or a page turn, then carry on in the same recording instead of stitching files together later.
Drag the handles on the waveform to cut the silence and the click of the mouse, then play it back to check before you save.
As a WAV audio recorder it saves an uncompressed file for editing, for takes up to 20 minutes, or keep the smaller original your browser recorded.
Need the words? Send the recording to the transcriber below in one click and get a transcript with timestamps in minutes.
No install, no account and no upload: a voice record online takes less than a minute on laptops, desktops and phones.
Click Record to record from the microphone, and allow access when the browser asks. Choose the mic you want from the list and say a few words to check the level meter.
Press R or the big button and speak, sing or play. Press Space to pause and resume in the same take. Press Stop when you are done and the recording appears in your list.
Play it back, trim the start and end, rename it and download WAV or the original format. Want the words? Click Transcribe to turn it into text.
Built for clean takes, quick edits and the words afterwards.
A browser usually records from whatever microphone it found first, which is often the laptop mic instead of the good one on your desk. This mic recorder lists every input it can see, so you can choose a USB mic, a headset or an interface, and its level meter shows whether you are too quiet or clipping before the take starts. Click Test Mic and aim for the bar to reach the yellow zone without turning red. You do not need a professional voice recorder for a clean take: a decent USB mic at the right level matters more. It also works as a microphone recorder online for anything plugged into your audio interface, a mic and sound recorder in one. Noise suppression and echo cancellation can be switched on for a noisy room or turned off for music, ASMR and anything where you want the room sound kept as it is.
Choose a MicrophoneAlmost every recording starts with a second of silence and ends with the click that stopped it. Drag the trim handles on the waveform to cut them and play the selection back. The trimmed range is what the WAV download and transcription use, while the original file keeps the full take as a backup. Every take stays in the list beside the recorder, kept in this browser even after a reload, so you can record three versions of a voice over, compare them with voice recorder playback and download only the best one. Rename takes as you go so the file names make sense later.
Trim a RecordingRecording, playback, trimming and the WAV download all happen inside your browser. Online voice recording usually means sending your audio to a server you do not control. Not here: nothing is uploaded, there is no account to create and no watermark on the file. That makes it a safe online audio voice recorder for interviews, rehearsals and personal notes. Only when you click Transcribe does the recording leave your device, and then it goes to your own account over an encrypted connection.
Start RecordingRecorded an idea, a lecture summary or a client briefing and now need it in writing? Click Transcribe on any take and it opens in the EzTranscriber transcriber below, ready to turn into text with timestamps and speaker labels in 99 languages. Signing in is required for transcription, and new accounts get free credits. For memos you already recorded on your phone, use voice memo to text, and for recorded calls, the AI meeting transcriber.
Record and TranscribeA sample voice over, just made with the audio recorder online. Drag the handles to trim the silence, press play to hear the kept part, and see how big each download will be.
A WAV recording keeps every sample of the sound, which is why editors and transcription tools like it, but it is large: close to 6 MB for every minute of mono audio at 48 kHz. The original format the browser records, WEBM with Opus in Chrome, Edge and Firefox or M4A with AAC in Safari, is about a sixth of that size and is fine for sharing. The trim applies to the WAV download and to transcription, while the original always keeps the full take.
Three ways to record sound, from a website to record voice to a full desktop app, and when each one makes sense.

Anyone who needs a clean recording now, without setting up software first.
Record voice over for a tutorial, a slide deck or a product demo, trim it and drop the WAV into your editor.
A quick voice recorder for singing ideas before they fade, a song recorder for rough demos, and a voice recorder for singers who want to hear a take back right away. Then find the notes with the pitch detector or turn the melody into MIDI.
Record a spoken assignment, a language exercise or a lesson summary, and transcribe it to study from the text.
Capture an intro, an ad read or a pickup line with the same mic you use for the show, without opening the full studio setup.
Leave a recorded update instead of a long email, or record your own notes after a call and turn them into a written summary.
Use it as a simple ASMR audio recorder with noise suppression switched off, so soft sounds and room tone stay in the take.
I record the voice over for every training video here. Picking my USB mic from the list and trimming the ends takes seconds, and the WAV goes straight into Premiere.

My students record their speaking homework on school laptops where they cannot install anything. It just works in the browser and they send me the file.

When an idea for a lyric hits me I sing it into the laptop, then transcribe the take so the words are saved as text too.

I like that nothing is uploaded unless I ask for a transcript. I record client notes after calls and only transcribe the ones I need.

Your takes are kept in this browser, so they are still in the list after a reload, unless storage is blocked, for example in a private window. They are never stored on our servers, and clearing your browsing data removes them, so download every take you want to keep for good.
Up to two hours per take, which covers lectures, interviews and long voice overs. Takes up to 20 minutes can also be saved as WAV; longer ones download in the original format. Each take is saved separately in the list.
Speak at your normal volume and watch the meter: it should move well into the middle and never hit the red end, which means clipping. Move closer to a quiet mic rather than shouting.
Transcribe, analyze or reuse what you just recorded.
