You hear a riff you love, but rebuilding it note by note in a piano roll means replaying the same two seconds dozens of times. A converter listens for you and writes the pitches, start times and lengths into a file your DAW understands, so you start from real notes instead of an empty grid.
Everything happens on your own device, from the first file you drop in to the finished download.
Chords, bass lines and melodies are detected together, so piano to MIDI and guitar parts come out as full voicings rather than a single thin line.
The model runs inside your browser. Unreleased demos and personal recordings never leave your computer or phone.
Open the page and start. There is no account, no credit system and no watermark on the file you download.
Adjust sensitivity, minimum note length and pitch range, then watch the piano roll redraw before you export anything.
Play the original recording and the detected notes side by side to check that every note sits where it should.
Export a standard MIDI file that opens in Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, GarageBand, Cubase, Reaper and notation apps.
The whole MP3 to MIDI file conversion takes a few clicks and nothing to install, whether you turn MP3 into MIDI on a laptop or a phone.
Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC or OGG file onto the upload box, or pick one from your device to convert the MP3 file to MIDI. Short, clean recordings of one instrument or one voice give the most accurate notes.
The model listens to the whole clip and marks every pitch, onset and note length. A progress bar shows how far it has got, and nothing is uploaded while it works.
Check the result on the piano roll, play it back, fine tune the settings if needed and save the .mid file to your device.
Built for musicians who want usable notes, not a page of guesses.
Under the hood is Basic Pitch, the open source note detection model released by Spotify. It handles several notes at once, holds a note steady through vibrato, and keeps each note on its own key, which is why a strummed chord or a two hand piano passage becomes proper MIDI chords. If you have been looking for Spotify Basic Pitch audio to MIDI without installing Python or a plugin, this is it, running in a browser tab. The AI audio to MIDI step happens on your graphics chip when one is available, so longer clips finish faster on a modern laptop. Think of it as a sound to MIDI converter for any pitched instrument.
Try Basic Pitch OnlineRecord a hook on your phone, upload the voice memo and get the melody back as notes. Turning a sung idea into MIDI is the fastest way to move it from your head into a synth, and vocal to MIDI works just as well on a finished stem: convert vocals to MIDI when you want to double the line with an instrument or build a harmony around it. You can turn your voice to MIDI free as often as you like. Sing with a steady volume and leave a short gap between phrases for the cleanest result. Want the words as well as the notes? Run the same file through the lyrics transcriber.
Convert My VoiceEvery detected note appears on a scrollable piano roll with a playhead that follows the recording. Zoom in on a bar, play the notes with the built in synth, switch back to the original and compare the two by ear. Seeing the music to MIDI result before you download saves a round trip to your DAW, and it makes it easy to spot a wrong octave or a stray note before it ends up in your project.
Open the Piano RollNoisy room? Raise the threshold so only confident notes survive. Fast runs? Lower the minimum note length. Bass only? Narrow the pitch range to the low register. Each control redraws the piano roll instantly, so you can shape the audio to MIDI AI output without converting the file again, and you can set the tempo of the exported file so the notes line up with the bar grid in your session.
Fine Tune My NotesAn eight second piano clip of a well known nursery melody, converted with the default settings.
The top line is the melody and the lower notes are the left hand bass, both detected from the same recording. Note lengths follow how long each key was held, so the long notes at the end of each phrase come out twice as long as the rest. Piano audio to MIDI is the cleanest case, so it is a good first test: drop your own recording into the tool above to create MIDI from audio of your own playing.
An online audio to MIDI converter is only step one: once the conversion is done, the notes are yours to reshape in any music software.
Drag the .mid into a DAW and assign any instrument: turn a hummed line into a synth lead, swap a piano loop for strings, or layer a bass under a guitar riff. Quantize the timing, transpose to a new key you found with the BPM and key finder, or open the file in notation software and print it with MIDI to sheet music.
How clean the notes come out depends on how clearly each one can be heard. Use this as a quick guide before you convert a song to MIDI.
| Which Recordings Convert Best to MIDI | Result | Tip for cleaner notes |
|---|---|---|
| Solo piano | Excellent | Close mics and little sustain pedal blur give the cleanest MP3 to MIDI piano notes and chords. |
| Singing or humming | Very good | Sing one clear line without backing music for a tidy melody. |
| Acoustic or electric guitar | Good | A dry DI signal works better than a heavily distorted amp. |
| Bass line | Good | Narrow the pitch range to the low register to ignore stray harmonics. |
| Full band mix | Mixed | Isolate the part first, then convert the stem instead of the whole song. |
| Drums | Not suited | The model tracks pitched notes, so drum hits are best programmed by hand. |

I hum ideas into my phone all day. Uploading the memo and getting the melody back as notes in a minute changed how fast I start tracks.

The piano roll preview is the part I love. I can hear the notes against the original and only download once it sounds right.

My students record themselves, I convert the recordings and we look at their timing together on screen. It makes feedback concrete.

Nothing gets uploaded, which matters to me with unreleased demos. It just runs in the browser and hands me a clean .mid file. The best MP3 to MIDI converter I have tried for demos.

Yes. WAV, MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG and other formats your browser can play all work, so you can use it as a WAV to MIDI converter free of charge. Quality depends on how clean the recording is, not on the file type.
It detects several notes at once, so chords and two hand piano parts convert well. A full band mix is harder because instruments overlap; for notes you can actually edit, convert one isolated instrument at a time.
Yes. Singing or humming one clear line converts very well, and you can convert audio to MIDI free as often as you like. The melody becomes notes you can play with any instrument in your DAW.
